swing time...

Dylan and I take a few walks every week.  There is a park that is very close to our house and I often times want to take Dylan over there, but there are always tons of little rugrats running around that I know I won't get to enjoy her first park experience...especially considering she's too young to play on her own and I would have to swing/slide/climb with her in my arms and have to worry about her being trampled and pushed aside.  On one of our walks last week we went by the park and there were only like 5 kids there!  So, I reluctantly crept closer and closer to the playground, stopping to sit and watch here and there.  The swings were always my favorite, so I kept an especially close eye on those, and finally the opportunity arose!  There were no kids on the swings, a couple of them on the jungle gym, and the others had left or moved over to another play area.  So onto the regular swing I went with Dylan in my lap, the whole time spying the infant swings.  I thought, "Dare I put her in there?  They're probably so dirty, she's bound to put her mouth on it, and Chad's not here to witness it!".  But since I had my camera with me as always, I went for it!  I placed her in that swing and she was so tiny it!  She probably could have fit her whole body through one of the leg holes!  Haha!  I held on to her and gave her a little nudge and she really seemed to enjoy it.  She may not have really known what was going on, but I know one thing, she looked darn cute in it!  I cannot wait until she's a little bigger so she can be pushed in it without me holding on to her, I know she's gonna love it!

cousin Trey

Dylan's Auntie Kelly and her cousin Trey came over to visit a couple weeks ago.  Trey LOVES his cousin Dylan and he's so good with her.  I bet he can't wait until she's older so they can really play together.  Here's a few shots from their visit...

I love this one.  look at his smile...so stinkin' cute!

my funny valentine...

Oh the many faces of Dylan.  Turns out, she's hilarious!  Dylan has been keeping us entertained with silly faces, a curling tongue, a squeal, and a new way to get around.  Her face is so animated.  She's got these great chipmunk cheeks that make her faces so adorable.  She's discovered her tongue and has been sticking it out, pointing it, chewing on it and even curling it!  She loves to talk and squeal, but usually she doesn't do it until she's got a toy in her mouth, which makes it sound hilarious.  She sucks her thumb and would often rather have it than a pacifier.  She's been eating really well and loving the rice cereal.  She just had her 5 month birthday on the 10th.  She now weighs 13 lbs, 11 oz.  And she is 26 inches long.  She loves watching the rain, which she's gotten to do several times this week.  She loves water in general; baths, playing in the sink, watching us wash our hands.  If it has to do with water, she's enthralled.  Her newest trick is rolling!  When you place her on her back she rolls onto her belly, then continues to roll onto her back, then to her belly, all in the same direction.  She only rolls one way!  She's not an amburoller, haha!  She's the opposite of Derek Zoolander, she can only turn left!  It's so funny because she'll be rolling around on the floor and reach a spot where she can't go any further so she kind of pivots and keeps rolling until she's made a big circle around the room.  She's pretty funny.

Growing stronger everyday...

Dylan is getting bigger everyday.  She is sitting up so well.  She had become less and less interested in rice cereal, so we took a break from it.  But as she's been showing more interest in our food, we decided to reintroduce it.  She's been eating pretty well the last couple of days.  Hopefully it will continue and we can start to introduce more solids.  We've really enjoyed the rain.  Dylan loves water, so we sat outside with her to watch the rain fall the other day, she loved it...and the cold gave us the opportunity to let her wear the hat I've been dying to put on her (a present from Jose and CeCe) seen in the first picture.  Also, she got her first highchair.  She looks adorable in it and it's great that we have something she can sit in up at the table with us.  It was super cheap and it has a little cushion in it to help keep her stable until she grows into it a little more.  Life with her everyday is quite an adventure!  Also, we found out that she is going to get to meet her second cousin Arabella in just 2 weeks!  Tad, Nichola and Bella are coming to California to visit us and we cannot wait!!

moving day...

We helped my brother and sister-in-law move last week.  It was the day that Dylan really made a major improvement in sitting up on her own.  Just a few pics from the day.

p.s. this is one of her poop faces  :)

nurturing nature...

We took Dylan on one of the trails at the El Dorado Park Nature Walk.  It was a beautiful day!  They have several trails and we plan on taking her on all of them.  This time we did one of the one-mile trails.
