ketchup...

I know it's been a while so we have some catching up to do.  I'll start with this: I had mentioned before how we were working on sitting up, and she was doing ok.  She would use her hands to hold herself up, but fold in half pretty quickly or topple over to one side.  Then one day, things turned around so quickly and she is practically a pro now!  She holds herself up and then pushes her hands off the ground and straightens her back and can hold herself up there for a pretty good amount of time.  It's so crazy to watch your child go through transitions so quickly.  You are literally watching them grow right in front of your eyes.  It's amazing.  She is still teething pretty bad, well, some days are worse than others.  She woke up early this morning crying from the pain.  Poor thing.  I know it's only going to get worse too.  For now though, we will just continue freezing teethers and letting her bruise our knuckles to make it through!  I think she also likes to gum her tongue because she recently started to stick her tongue out and just hold it there.  It looks hilarious because she sticks it out so far and it's pointy (see picture below) haha!  I will update again later today when I get time with pictures from the nature walk we went on and from moving day with Uncle Josh and Auntie Lacey.  For now, enjoy these:

side note...

I know you all come here to see and hear about Dylan, but I wanted to let you know about another blog I started.  I've decided to do a little project.  It's called 101 in 1,001.  It's a list of things to help better me and the world and to help my life be a little more organized and "together".  Hope you will enjoy it...or perhaps be inspired to join in.  Click here.

headbangers...

Yesterday was my other best friend's birthday.  Josie is also my hair stylist (and the best at that!).  So Dylan and I took her flowers at the salon and she gave me a new do!  Yay!  I love them more than I thought I would.  Thanks Jo and happy birthday!!!  Get that baby out already.

You say it's your birthday...

Monday was my best friend Toni's birthday.  It was dinner as usual at Don Ramon's.  We had lots of fun.  Dylan got passed around for all to see and she did really well.  She met Bailey, Toni's niece, and was obsessed with trying to grab her!  They were so cute.  Happy Birthday Toni!

a few things...

Dylan has really begun teething.  She had shown small signs before, but it's getting pretty heavy.  So, she hasn't been the happiest baby on the planet.  The teeth are still far off, but man is she pissed about it!  On another note, we visited Grandma yesterday and took a walk around Back Bay.  It was really beautiful, albeit, a bit chilly.  Dylan fell asleep in the stroller, but Grandma and I spotted this crane.  It was so pretty.  I've never seen one so close up.  Also, we are working on Dylan's sitting up skills.  She's definitely coming along!

look ma, one hand!

tea time...

So, I love sweet tea (I'm from Texas).  But I stopped drinking caffeine about a year and a half ago, so I tend to keep a pitcher of decaf sweet tea in the fridge...I love it, it's perfectly refreshing.  Today, when Dylan and I returned from our walk she was a little fussy and ready to eat, so (with baby on hip) I went to grab a quick glass of tea to have while I nurse her and this happened...

so I've got crying baby in my arms and tea on my feet!  Haha, I had to laugh about it...Dylan didn't find it as funny!

Hope...

On November 4, 2007, Dylan went with me to cast my vote for the 44th President of the United States.  Yesterday we watched as the new president was sworn into office.  To now have an African American man as president means so many things for our world, but most importantly it gives hope to the children of our nation.  They now know that they can be, literally, anything they want to be...the sky is the limit!  It makes me happy to know that my daughter will never live in a world where her dreams and aspirations were limited.  As the parents of a young child, we pray constantly for the future of our world.  Our prayer is for Barack Obama and his family as they enter into the most difficult position any presidential family has had to face.  Although I am a supporter of Obama, I feel too many people put their hope just in him, but he is just a man.  We have chosen to put our hope and trust in God.  We are praying that our new president will lead us the way he has promised and that God will help him to lead our nation towards a more peaceful, stable, protected future, for the sake of our children.  YES, WE CAN!
